Goodbye

I am Leaving BIHG with mixed feelings.  When we started this years ago, we never thought the league would grow to this extent.  We had no idea what we were doing, and trough trial and error, we learned.  I think we did a good job.  I have met so many wonderful people, and had a lot of fun. Thank you for sharing your children with us, it has been fun getting to know them, watching them grow. (This is what I will miss most)

Good luck to the new team BIHG!

FOR INFORMATION ABOUT OUR FALL 2009 SEASON SEE THE FORUM

In 2005, Buffalo In-line Hockey Group was a brand new, not-for-profit, youth in-line hockey league that was started by two novice in-line hockey coaches: Rich Gurbacki and Rich Smith. The first few years saw some tremendous hockey, with controlled, sustainable growth and the development of hundreds of players. Today this league runs a split season schedule from September through June, and has gained an understanding and maturity and currently finds itself with unprecedented growth and popularity.

BIHG is of the belief that we are the premier youth, in-line hockey league this side of Long Island, NY, and testament to that fact are the many house teams in various age groups plus tournament teams that are beginning to make a name for themselves. BIHG players have made the in-line nation aware of the caliber of play and level of talent that exists in our league. With the exposure of in-line hockey in the Buffalo area this past year via regional tournaments and the TORHS National tournament this past July, the 2008 fall season brought us to record registration levels. Without regard to the league size, the Board of Directors remains firm in our belief that this league provides an excellent opportunity for youth players of all ages to play in a great house league on a full sized rink with a fast surface, coupled with a high level of competition for both our house and tournament teams. We will do everything in our power to continue to grow and improve this league and we are looking to grow and improve our tournament teams.

Other items of note:
Buffalo In-line Hockey Group  is a not-for-profit organization. We have no paid positions; all are volunteer. No one on the Board of Directors, the administration staff, or the coaches are paid a penny.
We are not a revenue source for anyone, not a rink attached to a bar, and we don’t involve ourselves with “pro” or adult leagues and we don’t “cut” any players from our house teams.
We firmly believe that BIHG separates itself from every other league in the Buffalo area because of our primary reason for existence: we created this organization to provide an opportunity for youth in-line hockey players to compete, grow and learn in a positive, constructive, and safe environment.

Add to this our first-rate administrative system, affordable fee structure, the finest rink in the area, and our realization that with the right impetus and a little corporate support, the sport of youth in-line hockey can grow in Western New York ...

... and there you have Buffalo In-line Hockey Group.

This league exists for, and because of, our players. We don’t know any other youth hockey organizations in WNY and maybe New York State that can say that.  Come see for yourself - we think you'll agree.
