IRONMAN
Apr 12, 2009, 9:37 am
Thanks to all of you and to Joe Basil Chevrolet and to Perrys Ice Cream for your support. We were able to give L.I.F.E. L.I.N.E. the Flight 3407 Fund a check for $1,500. More importantly we were able to show our boys what it means to have a sense of community.

Thanks again

Ironman Rules:
• Each team consists of 3 skaters and 1 goalie.
• 15 minute games; running clock. Winners advance, losing teams eliminated.
• 1 minute intermission between games. Teams must be ready to play.
• Ties will be decided by 1 player shootout (except for semi-final & final games).
• Penalties will result in a penalty shot.
• No substitutions allowed.
• Teams are determined by random drawing 30 minutes prior to tournament.

The IRONMAN tournament has become a BIHG tradition and is very popular with the players; it is held both the Saturday after Thanksgiving and before Easter. A portion of the proceeds raised from this event goes to charity. Past recipients have been "Skate for the Cure," a breast cancer research foundation, and a WNY Physically Challenged Sports Organization Sled Hockey team.

This year we are proud to support the Leon D. Carr Scholarship Fund. This culinary scholarship has been established in honor of the highly acclaimed Grand Island chef who died in February from injuries sustained from a snowboarding accident at Holiday Valley. For those of you who are not aware, Leon and Sarah Gurbacki, daughter of Rich and Diane, were marriage bound before this tragic accident.

We thank you for your support.

BIHG KICKS OFF 2008 FALL SEASON

BABY JOE MESI HELPS KICK OFF 2008 BIHG FALL INLINE HOCKEY SEASON IN KNOCKOUT FASHION

Baby Joe Mesi, former New York State Golden Gloves boxing champion and Heavyweight contender, and current Democratic candidate for State Senate, helped usher in Buffalo Inline Hockey Group's new Fall season by dropping the puck for the ceremonial faceoff at the Epic Center in Lancaster. Mesi, a Tonawanda native and resident, spent time talking with parents and players before taking up position at the center face-off circle. Pictured along with Mesi are Adam Rainey (left) and Evan Dressel (right), both long time league players.

BIHG would like to thank Baby Joe Mesi for paying us a visit and supporting our league. We wish him the best of luck in his new political career.
